Scanners We Accept

We are compatible with the following systems

Itero Scanner

Option 1 – Quick Setup on Scanner

  • On your iTero scanner, select “Find a Laboratory.”
  • Search and connect with First Dental Studio using our
    Lab ID: 9293.
  • Once connected, simply select First Dental Studio when sending your scans.

Itero Scanner

Option 2 – Through iTero Support

  • Call iTero Support at 1-800-577-8767 to request a lab connection.
  • Provide them with:
    • Our Lab ID: 9293
    • Your scanner’s serial number
  • iTero will add First Dental Studio to your scanner.
  • Do a test scan to ensure the connection works — label it clearly as a test scan so we don’t process it.
  • After that, you’ll be able to choose First Dental Studio when submitting scans.

Trios – 3Shape Connection Instructions

Option 1 :

  • Open your 3Shape Communicate portal in your browser.
  • Go to Connections.
  • Search for and request a connection with First Dental Studio.
  • Call us at 780-421-1890 to let us know you’ve sent the request.
  • Once approved, you’ll be able to select First Dental Studio when sending your scans.

How to Connect to First Dental

Medit (Meditlink)

  • Log into Meditlink.
  • Click Invite Partner and enter First Dental Studio.
  • Call or email us to let us know you’ve sent the request.

to send cases:

  • After scanning, go to the Case Details page.
  • Click Order, fill out the form, and click OK.
  • Your order will show as Pending until we accept it.
  • Once accepted, it will show as Accepted, and then Shipped.
  • When you receive the case, click Confirm Delivery to complete it.

How to Connect to First Dental

DS Core (PrimeScan)

  • Log into your DS Core account.
  • Click your user icon in the top right, then select Practice .
  • Click the Preferred Labs tab.
  • Click Add Preferred Lab (blue button on the right).
  • Search for First Dental Studio (make sure it’s the one in Edmonton, Alberta).
  • Click Add Lab, then confirm.
  • You’ll now see us in your preferred labs list and can select us when sending cases.

You can send STL files via:

  • Dropbox
  • Brightsquid
  • WeTransfer
  • Or directly by email (less secure, but works—zip large files if needed).

If you’re using Carestream, CEREC, or another scanner that allows .STL exports, you can upload your files through our secure portal or email us for upload instructions.
